Eight + A Group Exhibition 22 July - 17 August 2024 Lysaght Watt Gallery

The exhibition coordinated by Libby Hogg (Exhibition Curator), brings together ten contemporary artists from Taranaki, Whanganui and Waiheke. The artists collaborating on the exhibition are Manu Bennett (Whanganui); John Burton (Whanganui); Elliot Collins (Waitara); Melanie Fleet (Whanganui); Roger Morris (Ōeo); Marianne Muggeridge (Ōeo); Jodi Naik (New Plymouth); Mark Raymer (Ōkato); Riihari Warnock (Waiheke) and Wayne Wilson-Wong (Ōpunake). Within the ten are well-known painter and printmaker Marianne Muggeridge twice winner of the Adam Portraiture Award, noted interdisciplinary artist and Senior Lecturer Te Kura Matatini o Taranaki (WITT) Elliot Collins, born in Aotearoa raised in USA printmaker Mark Raymer also lecturer at WITT and winner 2D Ist Place Prize, Lysaght Watt Trust Art Awards (LWTAA) 2023 and Māori artist and B&W printmaker Riihari Warnock, winner 2D Runner Up Prize LWTAA 2023. All artists chosen are unique in their field and were asked to contribute three artworks broadly representative of their oeuvre for the combined exhibition. Styles range from abstract - landscape - Māori arts - nude portraiture - pop art - mixed media/word art and artists preferred mediums - oil or acrylic on canvas, printmaking (woodcuts/screen prints on paper/linen), fine art photography and metalwork. If you are curious about art at all come and appreciate and be inspired by Eight + A Group Exhibition at Lysaght Watt Gallery, 4-6 Union St, Hāwera, M-F 10am – 4 pm, Saturdays 10am – 1 pm.
