Rau Te Tai Ākina: 50 Years of Parininihi Ki Waitōtara

Lysaght Watt Gallery is honoured to host one of the key exhibitions commemorating the 50th anniversary of Parininihi Ki Waitōtara's establishment.

We're thrilled to present the Te Rautoi Exhibition from June 29th to August 8th, 2026. Join us for this exciting milestone!

The exhibition draws inspiration from the powerful ngeri composed in the early 1900s, Rau Te Tai Ākina. This ngeri serves as a resolute call to action, urging unity in response to rapatu and breaches of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The exhibition proudly features Taranaki Maori artists, whose mahi toi highlights the remarkable talent, creativity, and cultural expressions of the region. These works powerfully demonstrate creative resilience, reflecting both personal and collective journeys, and celebrating the vibrant richness of Taranaki Maori identity today.
