Exhibition: Shoreline 'The Line Along Which A Large Body Of Water Meets The Land'

Updated: Jul 17

For this exhibition I wanted to use the region I was exhibiting in as my inspiration. Exploring the Taranaki shoreline from Pātea through to the Cape Egmont Lighthouse, I have used a

variety of mediums and artistic licence to convey my observations.

I am a Manawatu based artist and an active member of PCANZ (Print Council Aotearoa New Zealand). While printmaking has become my primary medium, I continue to explore a wide range of materials - especially those which can be recycled, adopting a ‘no waste’ policy in

my studio practice as much as possible.

In this exhibition I have used recycled Tetra Pak cartons to make plates for my drypoint prints, and other found materials in the small sculptural ‘Shipwreck Pillars’. The tactile element of materials has led me to felting, which I have started explore this year. The small vessels seen here use the colour palette of the seaweeds, sands, and features

from the Shoreline.

I am not a deep-thinking artist, I let the materials and the environment drive my creative narrative.
